Jane McClaren is a BABCP-accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist and the Director of Sheffield CBT Practice. She brings over a 15years of clinical experience working with both adults and children across a wide range of mental health difficulties.Jane works with individuals in a compassionate, person-centred way to help them make sense of their distress, develop effective coping strategies, and regain a sense of balance and confidence. Her approach is focused on supporting clients to reconnect with their values, build resilience, and move toward becoming their best and most authentic selves.
Jane began her post-qualification career in the NHS, spending three years within a specialist service for OCD, PTSD, and anxiety disorders. She later joined the University of Sheffield Counselling Service, where she provided CBT to students struggling with anxiety, depression, and academic stress.
With a strong clinical background in trauma-focused therapy, Jane has worked extensively with individuals who have experienced domestic and sexual abuse. She is also the Clinical Manager of a Sheffield-based charity providing therapy to women and girls affected by trauma, and she leads a team of therapists delivering specialist interventions.
Her core clinical interests include the treatment of PTSD, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and low self-esteem, particularly where these contribute to anxiety and depression.
In addition to her clinical work, Jane is an experienced trainer. She delivers evidence-based psychoeducation programmes on confidence and self-esteem, facilitates CBT training for professionals, and provides national training on the psychological impacts of trauma and abuse.
